To Software Development Kit της Apple διατίθεται σε έκδοση μόνο για Intel επεξεργαστές. Ωστόσο υπάρχει ο τρόπος να το τρέξουμε και σε PPC επεξεργαστές (δοκιμάστηκε σε Leopard).

1) Κατεβάζουμε και ανοίγουμε το iPhone SDK package.Εγκαθιστούμε όλα τα πακέτα στα οποία έχουμε πρόσβαση.

2) Πηγαίνουμε στο mounted DMG και από εκεί στο Packages folder.

3) Κάνουμε double-click σε καθένα από τα Aspen packages και τα εγκαθιστούμε.

4) Θα πρέπει να έχουμε ένα Platforms folder στο default installation directory, το οποίο για αυτά τα packages λογικά βρίσκεται στο root level του σκληρού σας δίσκου. Βεβαιωθείτε ότι το Platforms folder υπάρχει.

5) Μέσα σε αυτό το φάκελο έχουν εγκατασταθεί όλα τα, σχετικά με το iPhone-sdk, αρχεία. Μετακινήστε όλα αυτά τα αρχεία στο /Developer/Platforms/ folder.

6) Επανεκινήστε το Xcode (εάν το είχατε ανοιχτό) και θα δείτε νέες επιλογές για iPhone applications, καθώς και τον AspenSimulator device με τον οποίο θα δοκιμάσετε τον κώδικα σας.

Κατά την διαδικασία αυτή θα παρουσιαστεί μία προειδοποίηση (warning!) λόγο του ότι η αρχιτεκτονική του επεξεργαστή δεν είναι αυτή που αναμένει η εφαρμογή (PPC vs. i386). Είναι κάτι το αναμενόμμενο, μην ανυσηχείτε.

Το αν θα λειτουργούν τα Apple certificates (μετά την πληρωμή της συνδρομής των $99) με τα PPC σύστημα είναι άγνωστο προς στιγμή, ωστόσο μπορείτε να πειραματιστείτε και να έχετε μία ολοκληρωμένη εικόνα του SDK με αυτόν το τρόπο.

Εάν σκοπεύεται να συνεχίσετε με την ανάπτυξη εφαρμογών για το iPhone, αγοράστε έναν Intel Mac για να είστε σίγουροι

Ακόμα 2 χώρες προστίθενται στον μικρό κατάλογο των χωρών όπου πωλείται επίσημα το iPhone. Οι τυχεροί είναι οι Ιρλανδοί (με την O2) και οι Αυστριακοί (με την T-Mobile) οι οποίοι θα μπορούν να προμηθευτούν το iPhone 8GB στα €399 και το iPhone 16GB στα €499.

H iPhone Dev Team έκανε πάλι το θαύμα της…

Το screenshot το οποίο κυκλοφόρησε, παρουσιάζει ένα jailbroken iPhone v1.2 (Το οποίο θα κυκλοφορήσει με την διάθεση του SDK στο κοινό ώς v2.0).

Η συνέχεια είναι ακόμα καλύτερη καθώς σύμφωνα με τις τελευταίες πληροφορίες, η Dev Team κατάφερε να ξεκλειδώσει την v1.2 (ή v2.0 εάν προτιμάτε) χρησιμοποιώντας το Pwnage Project.

Δυστυχώς ο τωρινός Installer.app πρέπει να διαμορφωθεί κατάλληλα ώστε να εισαχθεί στο νέο firmware: “They changed lots of the API, a lot. We will see how much has to be changed to the Toolchain [the previous development tool for iPhone independent developers] to still work after 2.0″

-”What is your relationship with the carrier? Billing relationship? Any sort of distribution going forward?” Jobs: We have a great relationship with our carriers. We struck a new kind of relationship with our carriers where Apple is responsible for the software on the phone. Really, this is our program and we’re running it. “So they won’t be getting a revenue share at all?” Jobs: We don’t go into our financial arrangements.

Κατά την διάρκεια του ετήσιου meeting των μετόχων της Apple, o Steve Jobs έκανε κάποια πολύ ενδιαφέροντα σχόλια σχετικά με το iPhone, την έλλειψη Flash player αλλά και το επερχόμενο Software Development Kit.

O Jobs δήλωσε πως το iPhone χρειάζεται κάτι περισσότερο εξελιγμένο από ότι το Flash Lite player της Adobe για τα κινητά, αλλά από την άλλη πλευρά, η πλήρης έκδοση του Adobe Flash player “performs too slow to be useful”. “There’s this missing product in the middle”. “It just doesn’t exist.”

Ερωτούμενος για το τι να περιμένουμε από την έλευση του SDK ο Jobs δήλωσε “you’ll see a lot of apps out there this summer.”

Ένα νέο πρόγραμμα που τα κάνει όλα (βλ. ZiPhone αλλά σε πιό εξελιγμένη μορφή) έκανε χτες την εμφάνιση του.

Το iPlus ξεκελειδώνει (και, εφόσον το επιλέξουμε, αυτόματα κάνει downgrade τον bootloader σε 3.9 FakeBlank), ενώ κάνει activate & jailbreak το iPhone.

Επιπλέον εγκαθιστά το AFC2, αλλά και τα ακόλουθα: Installer, Community Services, BSD subsystem, OpenSSH, VT-100, και κάνει επανατοποθέτηση (Relocate) των Fonts & Ringtones, ελευθερώνοντας πάνω από 120MB !!!

Όχι καφέ δεν κάνει (προς το παρόν :-))

Η iPhone Dev Team παρουσιάσε πριν από λίγες ημέρες το 3.9 FakeBlank Bootloader. Πρόκειται για μία modified version του Official Apple 3.9 bootloader η οποία δίνει την δυνατότητα στο iPhone να τρέχει διάφορα serial payload όταν το S-Gold  γίνεται reset, αντί να τρέχει τον bootloader. Επιπλέον μπορεί να αναβαθμιστεί πλήρως μέσω software! Τι σημαίνει αυτό;

Αξιοποίηση των δυνατοτήτων του BL3.9 για ξεκλείδωμα και ταυτόχρονα επιστροφή σε BL4.6 μόλις ο geohot κυκλοφορήσει το custom bootloader!

To Cydia, πνευματικό παιδί του Jay Freeman (βλ. saurik), έρχεται με φόρα να πάρει τα σκήπτρα από τον Installer. Η εφαρμογή είναι Open Source και διαθέτει περισσότερα features από το μέχρι πρότινος μονοπώλιο του Installer. Όσον αφορά τα τεχνικά στοιχεία, πρόκειται για ένα GUI port του Debian APT με Unix από πίσω.

Γιατί να το εγκαταστήσετε?

• Open Source - while this doesn’t directly affect the average user, it is incredibly useful for developers, and bugs are also easily reportable via the project’s Trac site.
• Search - Cydia has a great built in Search function (screenshots earlier in this post), and also the iPhone’s Contacts-style alphabet scroll on the side for quick finding apps you’re looking for.
• Resume-able Downloads - You can pause downloads at any time, and resume later. If you lose connection, Cydia will resume downloading as soon as you tell it to.

O Sauric δηλώνει πως: “Δεν πρόκειται για αντικαταστάτη του Installer - Έχω και τις δύο εφαρμογές εγκατεστημένες στο iPhone μου και το Cydia/APT δεν δημιουργεί προβλήματα συμβατότητας με τον Installer. Στην τελική, κανείς δεν πιέζει κανέναν, packagers ή users, να χρησιμοποιήσει τον Cydia αντί για τον Installer ”

Καταλαβαίνουμε πως ο Sauric προσπαθεί να κρατήσει χαμηλούς τόνους για να μην δημιουργηιούν 2 στρατόπεδα στον χώρου του iPhone source community αλλά ή αλήθεια είναι πως αργά η γρήγορα στο τελος θα μείνει μόνο ένας!

Οι SwirlySpace, δημιουργοί του MMS app (του προγράμματος το οποίο μας επιτρέπει να στέλνουμε MMS από το iPhone) ανακοίνωσαν σήμερα την κυκλοφορία της version 0.3.2, η οποία πλέον έχει και την δυνατότητα να ΛΑΜΒΑΝΕΙ  MMS!
